"Philips stepped up to the task. LED luminaires replaced the existing lights in a test area, before being rolled out across the floors. To facilitate installation, Philips designed a custom luminaire that would fit into the existing ceiling fixtures, lowering setup costs. The new lighting system improved visual comfort with clean, glare-free illumination, and the dimmable LEDs created many opportunities for saving electricity thanks to their low power consumption.

Further savings were made possible through the Philips LightMaster controls. This system automatically dims the fixtures in relation to natural light entering the building, ensuring that artificial light is never used more than necessary. The LightMaster control system also utilises occupancy control, which means that lights are turned off when rooms are empty, thanks to motion detection sensors.

The combination of LED and smart lighting control systems has delivered energy savings of around 45% compared to the previous lighting installation. Daylight harvesting alone accounted for a 36% energy reduction in the building perimeter.
