Find out how E.ON is pioneering energy efficiency with light
E.ON had high hopes for its new office. The goal was to make the site as energy efficient as possible, with an appearance that would please visitors and employees. To accomplish this, a 100% LED lighting solution was chosen. E.ON commissioned the project through an ESCO (energy service model), ensuring that the investment would be recouped through electricity savings.
The latest LED fixtures were installed across the site, bringing glare-free illumination to the workspaces, communal areas and toilets. The primary luminaire used was CoreLine recessed, which provides refreshing lighting while meeting all office norms. In addition, Dynalite controls create further energy savings through natural light detection and presence activation. By automatically dimming the overheard fixtures when there is enough natural light, or when there is nobody in the area, the controls keep unnecessary energy use to a minimum.
The upgrade exceeded all expectations. Environmental needs have been met, and as a result, this building is the first in the area to be awarded a class A energy rating. The lights have also helped to make the office a productive workspace while minimizing costs. EON have since announced plans to introduce LED technology into its other buildings – a proud moment for Philips lighting.
Thanks to the new lighting system, E.ON is achieving energy savings of more than 83%, leading to reduced energy bills.
